It’s been exactly a year since Marion Barry passed away. He’s gone, but D.C.’s most prolific politician is certainly not forgotten.
Mayor Muriel Bowser is expected to announce recommendations for official memorials to Barry tonight at a reception, the Associated Press reports. Previous suggestions have included renaming UDC or a high school for the mayor-for-life.
After years of health problems, the 78-year-old Barry died at United Medical Center. He was laid to rest after three lively days of memorials and tributes. But they continue to roll in.
