Tomorrow, coffee lovers can continue the spirit of shopping local with the Indie Coffee Passport. Back when I was a full-time freelancer, this card would’ve been the way to my heart. But alas, I now enjoy free coffee in the office so you can take part on my behalf.
This year 17 coffee shops are participating, and each shop will give cardholders one free coffee or tea option from a pre-selected menu of at least four beverages.
If you plan on staying and working for a while, two of our top five coffee shops to turn into your temporary office are participating: Flying Fish Coffee and Tea and Ebenezers.
The passport, which will be mailed to your home, is $20 and can be purchased here. The card is active through June 30, 2016.
D.C.’s passport is curated and run by District resident Stephanie Lunieski. Other versions of the program exist in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Vermont, Chicago, and the East Bay.
I’ve visited more than 45 of D.C.’s indie coffee shops so I assure you that 17 in six months is totally doable. Have fun and stay caffeinated.
