As the year comes to a close, you’re sure to be flooded with recaps. Last year, for example, we learned that one of Washingtonians’ top “how to” Google searches was “how to love.”

This year, consistent with the top global and U.S. Google searches, District residents wanted to what was happening with Lamar Odom; the former Los Angeles Laker was hospitalized after being found face down at a Las Vegas brothel. Washingtonians also cared about the daughter of Whitney Houston, Bobbie Kristina Brown, who passed away in July—though Brown didn’t make the top 10 Google searches nationally or globally.

While the media covered everything during Pope Francis’ visit to D.C., from what he ate for dinner on his flight, to how he ditched politicians to visit the homeless, the Vatican was beat on top news/events searches by Paris, Hurricane Joaquin, and Baltimore in our fair city, even though Hurricane Joaquin hardly even visited!

Check out what else Washingtonians searched most this year including the films American Sniper, Jurassic World, Straight Outta Compton, and more.
