Christmas Eve

Metro: Regular weekday service with no track work. The system will be open from 5 a.m. until midnight. Regular fares and parking rates in effect, but MetroAccess subscription trips will be cancelled.

Christmas Day

Metro: Both Metrorail and Metrobus will operate on Sunday schedules. Metro will be open from 7 a.m. until 3 a.m. and there is no scheduled track work. Off-peak fares will be in effect all day, and parking is free. MetroAccess subscription trips will be cancelled.

Circulator: No service

Roadways and parking: All rush-hour lane restrictions will be lifted. The Department of Public Works will not enforce parking meters, residential parking, or rush-hour lane restrictions. Normal enforcement will resume at 6 a.m. on Saturday, December 26.

December 25-27

Metro: No scheduled track work! Regular weekend service! Happy holidays!

New Year’s Eve

Metro: Metrorail will stay open until 3 a.m., and all trips after midnight will be free. Otherwise there will be regular weekday service and no track work. Regular fares and parking rates will be in effect until midnight.

Circulator: All buses on the Dupont Circle-Georgetown-Rosslyn route will run extended service until 2 a.m.. Buses on the Georgetown-Union Station route will run extended service between Georgetown and McPherson Square until 2 a.m.. And the Woodley Park-Adams Morgan-McPherson Square route will run extended service until 3:30 a.m.

New Year’s Day

Other things to take note of:

  • Metro trains will operate with six cars through January 3.
  • All non-emergency construction work will be suspended from noon on Christmas Eve until Sunday, December 27. The same will be true from New Year’s Eve until Sunday, January 3.
  • The Washington Regional Alcohol Program is once again offering its Holiday SoberRide program;; it runs from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. until New Year’s Day. If you’re 21 or over, cab rides (up to $30) are free by calling 800-200-8294 (TAXI).
