Good news for Metro riders (how often do we get to say that?): The Orange and Silver Lines are back to running every six minutes during rush hour.
Metro General Manager Paul Wiedefeld made the announcement today. “I want to thank the Metro customers who stayed with us despite less frequent service and crowding, and we know there is more work ahead to rebuild rider confidence and make service reliable,” he said in a release.
The lines have been back to running at six-minute intervals since Monday. This is the first time the trains have been on regular rush hour schedule since a substation fire outside of Stadium Armory in September. To protect the remaining power system, the number of trains on the line was reduced, causing the Orange and Silver Lines to run every eight minutes during rush hours, “limiting acceleration, and restricting how many trains were in the area of Stadium-Armory,” according to the release.
During this time, Metro saw a significant drop in on-time performance and rider satisfaction among .
