Snow is in the forecast this weekend, but we don’t know how much of it to expect.

“Every major computer model is now forecasting double digit snowfall totals for the D.C. area Friday and Saturday,” says Capital Weather Gang.

Capital Weather Gang believes those double digit totals are especially likely west and north of the city. The gang also notes that increasing winds could cause power outages Friday night into Saturday.

The National Weather Service considers a “high threat of a high impact winter storm” from Friday through Saturday night. It says that consequences could include, “significant travel delays, closures, and threats to life and property. Plan ahead to minimize impact on you and your family.”

NBC4’s storm team also says a powerful storm developing along the Carolina/Virginia coast is likely to cause a “mostly snow” event, but doesn’t rule out rain as well.

In all cases, Mayor Muriel Bowser better have her ducks in a row, as D.C.’s last Snowpocalypse did not fare well for Adrian Fenty. As for the rest of us, hypothermia conditions are upon us.
