Along with a host of other closings and cancellations, the Smithsonian, National Mall, and Memorial Parks are all closed this weekend. The Smithsonian’s museums (except the American Art Museum and National Portrait Gallery which weren’t open) and the National zoo closed at noon today, and they will remain closed on Saturday and Sunday.

All National Mall and Memorial Parks sites also closed at noon today and will remain closed at least through Sunday, according to a release. They include:

Constitution Gardens
East Potomac Park
Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial
Korean War Veterans Memorial
Lincoln Memorial
Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial
Thomas Jefferson Memorial
Vietnam Veterans Memorial
Washington Monument
West Potomac Park
World War II Memorial

The sites will not be staffed by park rangers (though United States Park Police will be on duty as normal) “and restrooms and other facilities will be inaccessible.” Additionally, National Park Service maintenance crews will work around the clock throughout the storm “to clear roads, parking lots, walkways around the memorials, and sidewalks.” But you can still frolic and go sledding at the Capitol!

Before Monday, Smithsonian staff will decide when museums will reopen, considering “the current conditions and guidance from the Office of Personnel Management.”
