Fetty Wap plays The Fillmore Silver Spring on Friday.

TUESDAY

Emily Wells, Lorna Dune, Overcoats @ Black Cat. 7:30 p.m. $12. All ages, accessible venue.

Emily Wells is a singer-songwriter-composer with a classically trained voice who has been releasing albums since 1999. She is a multi-instrumentalist who can command almost every instrument on the stage. Her compositions are experimental but maintain a pop back beat while pushing the boundaries of modern classical music. Wells is just starting her tour promoting her just-released new record Promise, and tonight’s show is sure to be a stunner.

WEDNESDAY

Young Galaxy, Dias @ Black Cat. 7:30 p.m. $12. All ages, accessible venue.

Montreal’s Young Galaxy has become a tight knight machine since the release of their 2011 record Shapeshifting. The band’s first two record mined Galaxie 500 dream pop. Once hooking up with producer Dan Lissvik, one half of the new defunct Balearic production duo Studio, the band went full on synth-pop—creating a trilogy of albums culminating with last year’s slow burner Falsework. While the band used to use many voices, it made the smart decision to leave all vocals to Catherine McCandless. The band is even better live, bringing more life to their icy tracks.

Martin Courtney (Real Estate), EZTV @ DC9. 8:30 p.m. $14. All ages, inaccessible venue.

When not making beach pop tunes with Real Estate, one of the best guitar bands working, Martin Courtney is writing songs for himself. While other members of Real Estate have taken to side projects, like guitarist Matt Mondanile’s Ducktails and Alex Bleeker’s Freaks, Courtney had yet to step out on his band. It is hard for a front man to put out a solo project without getting direct comparisons to his band, but Courtney’s full length debut Many Moons is not just a collection of songs that weren’t good enough for a Real Estate record or retreads of his band’s signature sound. Instead, it is 10 well-written indie rock tracks. This is his first solo show in DC. .and, for someone used to playing big rooms in the area, one of last to see him in one of the smallest.

THURSDAY

Spirit Plots, Warm Sun, Sisters of Your Sunshine Vapor @ Velvet Lounge 7:30 p.m. $8. 18+, inaccessible venue.

D.C.’s Spirit Plots has been playing shows around the area for a while, and is one of the city’s best kept secrets. The three piece makes wiry indie rock with touches of Guided by Voices, The Thermals, and local bands like the Dismemberment Plan. Warm Sun is another indie pop band from the area that delights. The band just released a two song single aptly titled Blizzard. Both bands are a great pick if you are into indie pop and local music.

>>Comet Ping Pong: Scanners, Hothead, the Meer, More AM Than FM. 9 P.M. $12. All ages, accessible venue. https://www.facebook.com/events/908556555918281/

FRIDAY

Fetty Wap, Post Malone @ Fillmore Silver Spring. 9 p.m. Sold-Out. All ages, accessible venue.

Fetty Wap may not be the greatest lyricist but damn if he isn’t one of the most fun rappers to break out in the scene in a long time. Wap and his Zoo Gang hijacked the radio last year with the earworm singles “Trap Queen,” “My Way,” “Again,” and “679” all from his self-titled debut record. That record is a 17-song monster all created with the help of Wap’s friends. The lack of outside influencers and guest spots is practically unheard of for . While the show is very sold out, try to find a way to get tickets. This show is going to be fun as hell.

Maryland’s Two Inch Astronaut has been making national waves since the release of the 2014 record Foulbrood, and now the band is set to break with its soon-to-be-available record Personal Life, which is streaming now on Billboard. Produced by D.C. legend J. Robbins, Personal Life is the band’s best record yet. This show is the official record release so come out and celebrate.
