Comedian John Oliver, a vocal DC statehood proponent, will be bringing his stand-up routine to The Kennedy Center this August.
Oliver will be performing three nights in a row August 25 through August 27. Tickets for The Kennedy Center performances go on sale to Kennedy Center Members Thursday at 10 a.m., and then the general public can buy tickets Friday at 10 a.m.
The Washington Post notes that the Kennedy Center has been beefing up its comedy offerings lately, hosting the District of Comedy Festival in June and Tracy Morgan in April.
No word yet on whether or not he’ll be singing for D.C.’s supper statehood. As the song goes: “And if you’re totally convinced that there should be just 50 states, well then let’s all kick out Florida ’cause no one thinks they’re great. Oh yes, let’s all kick out Florida ’cause no one thinks they’re great.” If not, you can always relive the experience of a gaggle of children doing their rendition in front of the Capitol.
