Best was arrested last March after a 16-year-old victim reported that he allegedly sexually abused her on three separate occasions beginning in December 2014. He was off duty in each instance. The incidences occurred at the church that Best pastored and the girl attended, NBC4 reported.
Court documents allege that the incident involving the second victim, who was 17 years old at the time, took place in Best’s office on the fifth-floor of the D.C. police headquarters.
Best served as pastor of God-A Second Chance Ministry Church on Southern Avenue SE.
“I am hopeful the sentencing today provides some measure of comfort for these victims and their families,” D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier said in a release.
