As the results of Super Tuesday loom, District residents are looking past Donald Trump, setting their sights on another presidential hopeful. On his campaign site, FU 2016, Francis J. Underwood promises “progress, forward momentum, and getting things done.”
Ahead of House of Cards’ fourth season release, the series’ star came to D.C. last week. While fielding questions from reporters about a presidential painting that now hangs in the National Portrait Gallery, Kevin Spacey said that he didn’t have time to talk about the real election of 2016, as he had his own fictional campaign to run.
And indeed, Underwood materials can be seen across the District—from campaign pins to Metro posters. On reddit today, someone posted their gifts from the fanciful campaign.
Last week, other reddit users posted campaign posters spotted inside Metro railcars and on platforms for Underwood’s 2016 bid.
The series’ third season ended with President Underwood in a fractured marriage and equally floundering presidential bid. In season four, we find him trying to put the pieces back together amidst “tensions, conflict, deception, and plenty of surprises,” according to Netflix.
Season four hits Netflix this Friday at 12:01 a.m.
