Prince Rama plays Comet Ping Pong on Saturday.

Tuesday

CeeLo Green and Escort @ Howard Theatre 9:30 p.m. $34.50 – $75. All ages, accessible venue.

CeeLo Green has had a rough couple of years. Since getting the boot from his job as a coach on The Voice and tweeting out controversial views on rape, CeeLo has been trying to get back the good will he lost. While he hasn’t had a world-shaking hit since “Fuck You” CeeLo has still been releasing new records like last year’s tepidly received Heart Blanche. CeeLo’s opener Escort is the real reason to drop money for this show—the live disco band is one of the best dance groups active on the scene, and Escort’s live show is something not to be missed.

Wednesday

Coheed & Cambria, Glassjaw, Silver Snakes @ Echo Stage 6 p.m. $37. All ages, accessible venue.

Coheed and Cambria has been making epic emo-tinged prog-rock since 1995. The band is known for concept albums detailing the story of the Armory Wars. Coheed and Cambria made a switch with the band’s last record The Color Before the Sun. It is the first record that is not part of the Armory Wars and the band’s most straightforward collection of songs. While the band is known for long suites The Color Before the Sun has nary a song past the seven minute mark. The band is touring with a recently re-energized Glassjaw, which is part of the reason to see head out to the show, as the NY hardcore band has been rather quiet for years.

Athens, GA’s Drive-By Truckers have released 10 studio albums since forming in 1996. The band has gone through many line-up shifts, but are now a tightly-coiled five-piece. Last year the band released its fourth live album It’s Great To Be Alive! recorded over three nights at the Fillmore in San Francisco. While the Truckers are great on record, it is the live setting where they shine, playing tracks from their vast discography with set lists that are always full of surprises. The band ia playing two nights, and each is sure to be wildly different.

Prince Rama is a duo of sisters Taraka Larson and Nimai Larson. Ra Ra Riot shifted from indie rock to full on electro-pop on 2013’s Beta Love and with this year’s Need Your Light, the band take another turn. Need Your Light combines the electro-pop sounds of Beta Love and mixes in the rock tendencies of the band’s earlier sound. The album was produced by ex-Vampire Weekend member Rostam Batmanglij, who puts a pop sheen on all 10 of the tracks. While the band played last year at DC9, the band now goes to 9:30 Club with Sun Club and queer duo PWR BTTM in tow.
