The Obamas and Mayor Muriel Bowser aren’t the only ones leaving D.C. for Austin this week. A host of D.C.-based entities will set up shop to convince more than 130,000 SXSW festival-goers to see what else D.C. has to offer.

“We are home to inclusive innovation and a creative economy that is second to none, and we are sending a strong message that the District is open for business,” Mayor Bowser said in a release. “Our delegation represents the best of D.C., and I am excited to join them as we showcase the greatness of our great city.”

The WeDC House is a partnership between taxpayer-funded sports and convention arm Events DC, the Washington D.C. Economic Partnership, Executive Office of the Mayor, and the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development’s office. The group will host a lounge, panels, roundtable discussions, and more, while showcasing several big-name native artists.

“DC has so much musical talent and I’m excited to help rep alongside other artists from the city at SXSW this year,” said rapper Wale, who will perform at the Events DC Presents Music Showcase at SXSW on March 15. The Grammy-nominated artist performed last year too, pumping up his audience even as it rained. Some folks were also introduced to go-go music for the first time at the 2015 festival, thanks to Rare Essence’s concert.

This year, performers Maggie Rose, Chaz French, Gallant, Tabi Bonney, Tigers are Bad for Horses, Young Rapids, and more will bring everything from country music to electro-pop to the Events DC Soundstage from March 12 to 14.
