Part of the arrivals and departures level at Dulles International Airport’s main terminal has been closed off to investigate an unattended item.
MWAA said that airport personnel are on the scene, and that several check-in counters and baggage claim areas are affected by the closure. Roadways are still open, though, and no flight delays due to the investigation have been announced at this time.
The affected ticket counters include United, Lufthansa, Avianca, Austrian, Jetblue, Alaska, and Porter. The airport recommends using online check-in when possible.
NBC4 reports that a police K-9 found the item in baggage claim, and the area between carousels 3 and 8 has also been closed off.
