Contracted airline workers at National Airport will go on a strike, which organizers say is their first ever, tonight at 11 p.m.
The contracted workers postponed the action, initially planned for last Wednesday, after the attacks in Belgium.
Workers want the ability to unionize and to earn $15 an hour wages from their employers Eulen America and Airport Terminal Services Inc., who service Delta and American Airlines.
Workers at DCA join those in nine other airports, including JFK, Newark, Philadelphia, and Logan, planning to strike as part of the group Airport Workers United.
This isn’t the first demonstration from these airport workers, who staged a 24-hour hunger strike right before Thanksgiving and shut down traffic during a protest on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
