The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating after a man’s body was found in the Georgetown C&O canal this morning, NBC4 reported. Police received a call just after 7:30 a.m. this morning for a report of an unconscious person in the 1000 block of 31st Street NW, MPD spokesperson Aquita Brown told DCist.

Police have identified the man as 51-year-old Osbaldo Lemus Bernal of Arlington, Va.

Police are currently on the scene and a portion of 31 Street NW is closed, according to ABC7.
