For their first date, Harold met Miriam at Politics & Prose. Within a day, they’d already gone viral.

The two 90-somethings are both regulars at the bookstore, according to Jon Purves, the bookstore’s deputy director of marketing and publicity.

Harold’s granddaughter is a waitress who was was so impressed with one of her customers—Miriam—that she decided to introduce her grandfather.

A P&P employee, who helped Miriam and Harold locate each other, shared a photo of them smiling in front of a wall of books, each aided by a walker. Comments on the post ranged from “Damn ninjas with onions….” to other love stories that began at the beloved bookstore.

The booksellers let the pair know about the response. “They’re both happy that the story of their date has given a lift to so many people!” according to Purves.
