Oh my, how they’ve grown! If you look at the fluffy gray eaglets on the D.C. Eagle Cam, it’s hard to believe that they pecked their way out of their eggs and into the world a mere month ago.
And the children of bald eagles “Mr. President” and “The First Lady” deserve a little more excitement in their names than the robotic “D2” and “D3” given to them at birth. That’s why the American Eagle Foundation, which runs the D.C. Eagle Cam alongside the National Arboretum, launched a “Name the Nestlings” social media campaign.
There are now five final choices—all pairs of names—and the voting is officially open. Your choices are:
- Stars and Stripes
- Freedom and Liberty
- Anacostia and Potomac
- Honor and Glory
- Cherry and Blossom
While everyone is focused on the NY primary, take a moment to get to the only ballot box that really matters where you have a say.
Voting closes on April 24 at 9 p.m., and the winning pair of names will be announced on the 26th.
