Metropolitan Police Department detectives are investigating a collision with a Metrobus yesterday that left a motorcyclist dead.

The incident took place in the 1300 block of Southern Avenue, SE around 8 p.m. As the bus operator began to make a left turn into a parking lot, 31-year-old Demetrus Keys of Southwest struck the bus head on.

DC Fire and EMS took the victim to a local hospital and performed life saving efforts, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead today.

The identify of the bus driver and name of the bus route have yet to be released. The case remains under investigation.
