The Metropolitan Police Department charged a teenager with his second murder in a matter of months yesterday, alleging he shot a Secret Service officer in December and a teen at the Deanwood Metro.

Maurice Bellamy, who was already in custody for the Metro shooting, is now being charged with first degree felony murder while armed in the fatal shooting of 30-year-old Arthur Baldwin, D.C. Police said. Baldwin, a suspended Secret Service officer, was shot multiple times in the 4700 block of 1st Street SW.

Around 10:30 a.m. yesterday, D.C. police took Bellamy from the DC Jail to the Homicide Branch. He was already in custody after police alleged that he shot a 15-year-old boy at the Deanwood Metro station last month. He was charged with second degree murder in the death of Davonte Washington.

In both cases, Bellamy, who is 17 years old, is being charged as an adult.

On Monday, D.C. police also arrested 29-year-old Charles Sims of Southeast in connection with the Baldwin murder. He is being charged with first degree murder while armed.
