Saturday and Sunday are fun-filled at the Folger to celebrate all things Shakespeare! (Fun fact: he would have turned 452 years old this year—that’s a lot of candles.)
On Saturday, April 23rd, at noon, the Folger will host “Sharing Shakespeare Stories LIVE“—an international live streaming event where actors, community leaders, artists, and scholars will share their connections to Shakespeare through compelling performances and personal stories. Watch the broadcast LIVE on C-SPAN2’s Book TV or at Folger.edu.
Then, as the political season heats up, be sure to take in America’s Shakespeare—the newly opened exhibition that explores how the world’s most famous storyteller is woven into the fabric of America—from the Revolutionary War and politics of every era, to stage, screen, literature, social change, and today’s new media. Rich with cultural artifacts—from costumes and film and stage performances to legendary writers’ and politicians’ favorite Shakespeare, and even advertisements that use Shakespeare to sell, this is a “must see” spring show.
Spring has sprung, so make sure to get out and celebrate the weekend with The Bard!
