As has been the case for the past six years, all D.C. library locations will close for a day for staff training.
All staffers, not just librarians, will come to work tomorrow to patron-less facilities. Instead of their normal duties, they will take part in a variety of workshops that include topics like DCPL’s “sing, talk, and read” program, how the library system is becoming a re-entry hub for returning citizens, and highlights of the collection, says spokesman George Williams.
The tradition of a library staff day dates back many years, but it fell out of fashion until being revived in 2010, according to Williams.
Books and other items that are due tomorrow can be returned the following day without penalty. The library will re-open on Wednesday as usual.
