Just after 9 a.m., a student was stabbed on his way to Wilson High School, according to D.C. Police.
A suspect, described as an Asian or Hispanic male in his 30s, went up to the unnamed victim as he exited a car and tried to rob him, according to police. There was a verbal exchange before a struggle, in which the student was stabbed in the leg.
The student was able to walk the school to report his injuries, which were non-life threatening. He’s been transported to an area hospital.
The suspect remains at-large, and is described as approximately 5’7”, 150 pounds, and wearing all dark clothing, police said. The incident occurred in the 3900 block of Chesapeake Street NW.
In a letter to students and parents, the school’s principal wrote: “While this event did not occur on campus, we are committed to providing safe passage for students, to and from school each day, and will continue working closely with all community resources to keep our students safe.”
