Adams Morgan residents will be short a recreational venue for over a year. Marie Reed recreation and aquatic centers (2200 Champlain St. NW) will shutter on May 21 and won’t reopen until August 2017, according to Borderstan, which first reported the closing.

The “aging facility” will shut down for a major modernization, Gwendolyn Crump, a spokepersom for DC Parks and Recreation told Borderstan. Earlier this year, DPR temporarily closed the site due to lack of hot water in the female locker room.

Meanwhile, the department announced yesterday that all government-run outdoor pools will open at 11 a.m., as opposed to previous years when some pools opened later in the day.
