Donald Trump is in D.C. to win over Republicans who have been slow to support the presumptive presidential nominee, and it looks like he’s succeeding.
The Republican frontrunner met with with House Speaker Paul Ryan and Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus earlier today.

The meeting was great. It was a very positive step toward party unity.

Greeting Trump outside the RNC were both both supporters and protesters, as well as the now-customary flock of reporters.
One anti-Trump group came out to protest his “hateful, xenophobic, anti-immigrant, anti-woman, anti-environment, anti-middle-class proposals and rhetoric,” according to a release from Americans United For Change. They held up signs that said things like “The GOP: Party Of Trump” and “GOP + Trump: Dangerous, Divisive, Deceitful.”
Some supporters made their approval loud and clear.

Trump also got the support of the National Republican Congressional Committee, though the day is only beginning. Trump still has to talk with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell at the National Republican Senatorial Committee. And more opposition will await him outside. According to the AUFC, protesters plan to gather at his second meeting to call on Republican senators to stop holding the Supreme Court seat open “hoping that Trump will be able to place a nominee on the court that matches his extreme views.”
