Burrito lovers who mention D.C. Public Library at a Chipotle restaurant today will give the system a small donation.
In its third year, the fundraising campaign dubbed #BurritosforBooks is taking place at all Chipotle locations in the District from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. The library system will get 50 percent of purchases to support its annual Summer Reading Program. While the program is geared toward helping students continue reading books during their summer vacations, it’s open to District residents of all ages. Those who register and log reading hours can win prizes from Chipotle, the Washington Nationals (who are giving DCPL $250,000 in tickets and merch), and other sponsors.
And today, the system is kicking off the program with games, “Coffee & Conversation,” and more at the Northwest One Library in Mount Vernon Square. In addition to today’s fundraiser, the program is funded by corporate and private donations and cash from the Friends of the D.C. Public Library.
In order to “make eating a selfless act,” the library is asking folks to show the flyer below at the time of your purchase, or just mention DCPL at the register.
