Jeffrey Houston was getting ready for work this morning when he heard shouting outside. He left his home near the D.C. convention center to find a traffic officer telling people to stand back, Houston told DCist. Then he saw a car on fire, which he caught on video.
The incident took place at 6th and L Streets NW according to D.C. Police, who were called to the scene around 8:20 a.m. Roads were closed in the area for at least an hour. All lanes have now reopened.
After the fire was extinguished, Houston says he saw a couple, who looked to be in their mid-forties, combing through materials that firefighters threw on the ground nearby.
The victims sustained minor injuries, according to Commander Stuart Emerman of MPD’s Third District.
