If you’ve been thinking about adding a cuddly companion to your family, it is almost the time to do it for free. The Washington Humane Society-Washington Animal Rescue League announced today that its Clear the Shelters campaign is returning for a second year. The pet adoption drive, which is taking place July 23, will offer fee-waived adoptions.

“Our animal population has more than doubled since WHS and WARL came together in February,” said organization’s director of rehoming, Lauren Lipsey, said last month. At the time, the group slashed adoption fees in half—they usually run as much as $250.

Saturday’s annual event is part of a nationwide initiative with NBC 4. At last year’s event, caretakers sent home 151 animals throughout the D.C. region. Nationwide, 20,000 pets found new homes. “And we hope be even more successful this year,” said Lisa LaFontaine president of WHS-WARL in a release from the organization. An “Adoption Tracker” on the campaign’s site will show the total number of pets that are adopted in real time.

All animals have been neutered and are ready to go, according to the release. The event runs from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on July 23 at two shelters located at 71 Oglethorpe Street NW and 1201 New York Avenue NE.
