Metro General Manager Paul Wiedefeld wants you to check out WMATA’s brand new website. Metro riders can give feedback on the site, which is now in beta, before it formally launches later this summer, according to a release.
This is the first time the site has been redesigned in eight years.
“Metro’s new customer-focused website builds on our commitment to being more accountable, clear and transparent with the way we deliver customer information,” Wiedefeld said in the release. “The new site gives riders the tools they use the most, front and center, in a much more mobile friendly, easy-to-use format.”
Some of its new features include a toolbar (that appears on every page) with access to service alerts and arrival times, an updated trip planner with maps, location technology that tells riders which transit services are close by, and bus schedules that riders can customize. Portions of the site are still developing.
Wiedefeld also recently announced that they have made data about real-time train locations available to developers so they can build better apps and tracking websites.
With more than 1,000 pages and about 22 million page views per month, Metro’s website is among the largest transit sites in the country, according to the agency.
Riders can give input on the new site to Metro by emailing feedback@wmata.com.
