Jose Pino Estrada surrendered on Wednesday, and police took him to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, according to a release from the Fairfax County Police Department.
A 51-year-old woman contacted police on June 30, two days after she alleges Estrada sexually assaulted her in her apartment in Falls Church. The 35-year-old van driver came to the passenger’s home to return her lost cell phone, which she reported to the paratransit service the previous day.
He asked if he could use her restroom, and she agreed. When he came out, he asked her for a hug, which she declined. “But the suspect hugged her anyway,” according to police. She says Estrada then took her into a room and allegedly began to sexually assault her. She was able to push him away, and he left her home.
Estrada’s arrest comes a day after Metro Transit Police arrested Derrick Lamont Bowen, another contract employee who was charged for a sexual offense after engaging in a sexual act with a MetroAccess passenger with an intellectual disability.
Fairfax County Police detectives believe that Estrada may have assaulted other victims, and are asking for anyone with knowledge of similar incidents to contact them. Estrada was an employee of Diamond Transportation, which provides MetroAccess transportation services under contract to Metro. The company has since fired him.
