Police are searching for a suspect who robbed a man, then forced him to swim across the Potomac River.
The armed robbery took place last night near the first scenic overlook on the George Washington Memorial Parkway, according to a release from the United States Park Police. The suspect took the victim’s wallet and cell phone. The victim was then “forced to enter the Potomac River and told to swim across,” according to the release.
After reaching shore on the D.C. side of the river, the victim contacted police. Officers detained two suspects, but police later released them without charges “as they could not be positively identified as the attackers.”
Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call 202-610-8730.
