This weekend features events surrounding Labor Day, Bey Day, stripping Pokemon, and more.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 2

BURLESQUE: Pokemon or Punk Rock? Decisions, decisions. Two burlesque shows, same price, same time. One features Ass Catchem and Titsy trying to catch “the rarest of Pokémon—the elusive stripping type.” (Black Cat, 9 p.m. $12). The other has a “defiant cast of burlesque and sideshow misfits.” (Rock & Roll Hotel, 9 p.m. $12)

REMINDER: All tickets to the first preview show of the Broadway-bound Come from Away are FREE, but you must register for the lottery via the TodayTix app. Winners will be chosen Friday between 10 a.m.-2 p.m. If you are not one of the lucky winners, you can test your luck again in the standby line at Ford’s Theatre.

COMEDY: Last Resort Comedy‘s monthly local showcase is back. Friday’s show will include sets by comics Talib Babb, Naomi Karavani, Daylon Morrison, and Rob Smallwood. Per usual, you can get 1 ticket for $5, or use promo code “dcist” to get 2 tickets for $5. Basically, purchasing only one ticket is unacceptable. The Town Tavern. 8 p.m. $5

DISNEY: Hear all your favorite Disney tunes performed by the Wolf Trap Orchestra. The newest installment of the Disney in Concert series will include selections from Frozen, Tangled, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, The Princess and the Frog, Aladdin, and The Lion King. Filene Center. 7:30 p.m. $25-65

GREASE: There are only two dates left for the Union Market Drive-In. This Friday, you can relive the glory days of high school as you watch a screening of Grease. 6-10 p.m. $15 per car; free for bystanders

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 3

BEYONCE: Bey Day (Beyonce’s birthday) is on Sunday, but D.C. is getting things started early. First, Makers Lab hosts “ Bey Day: An Early Birthday Celebration” (Tropicalia, 4-8 p.m. $10 cash). If a four hour dance party isn’t enough Beyonce fix for you, you can continue on to Rock & Roll Hotel, where DJs Basscamp and The Lothario will be spinning “Bey and Jay” back to back all night long. 10 p.m. $10

READINGS: The 3-day Page-to-Stage New Play Festival returns for its 15th year. Over the course of the holiday weekend, over 50 local theater companies will perform “free readings and open rehearsals of plays and musicals in development by local, regional, and national playwrights, librettists, and composers.” Saturday’s events conclude with a karaoke afterparty beginning at 9 p.m., while Monday’s events kick off with free hots dogs, chips, and soda (while supplies last). FREE First-come, first-served seating. First event is at 11 a.m.

POOL PARTY: Pull out your “fashionable swimsuit and summer beach attire” and get ready for an evening swim. Art Soiree’s Art Fusion Special: After Dark Dip features swimming from 7-10 p.m. and a DJ and live performances from 8 p..m-midnight. Rooftop at The Liaison Capitol Hill. $10 advance ticket or $20 door ticket (but be warned: these events often sell-out in advance)

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 4

SUPER HEROES: If you like dressing up as your favorite superhero or villain (but are unable to make it to Baltimore Comic-Con) you can show off your cosplay skills at The Super Hero And Super Villains Party. It’s basically an excuse for you to walk around in a costume all day (not that one is ever needed…). 9:30 p.m.-2 a.m. FREE

MUSIC FESTIVAL: Day 3 of the Labor Day Weekend Music Festival is currently the only day without a waitlist, so don’t take too long to finalize your Sunday plans. Sunday’s show covering funk, jazz, soul, and more features performances by Sol Roots, Freddie Dunn, Ayanna Gregory Band, and the Eric Byrd Trio. Lincoln Theatre. 7-10 p.m. FREE

ROMEO + JULIET: The Shakespeare Theatre Company’s production of Romeo and Juliet officially debuts on September 13th, but you can get a sneak peek at this open rehearsal, where you’ll “observe the process of spacing a show on the Lansburgh stage.” Shakespeare Theatre Company. Seatings at 2:25 and 3:50 p.m. FREE

NSO CONCERT: Show off your American pride at the annual National Symphony Orchestra’s Labor Day Capitol Concert. This year’s show will feature Storm Large and her band Le Bonheur performing, “patriotic favorites alongside American Songbook standards,” including “The Lady is a Tramp”, “My Funny Valentine,” and more. West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol. 8 p.m. (Open rehearsal at 3:30 p.m.) FREE

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 5

CARIBBEAN: Didn’t escape to the Caribbean this summer? The next best thing is your chance to experience Caribbean-American heritage at Carifesta, a music and arts festival. Ronald Reagan Courtyard (1300 Pennsylvania Avenue NW) 12-8 p.m. FREE

BLUE CRABS: Do Labor Day the Maryland way at City Tap House’s Labor Day Crabfest, featuring Maryland Blue Crabs ($25 for a half dozen and $45 for a full dozen) and a Flying Dog Brewery Tap takeover ( all drafts $5). 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
