The Kennedy family’s ranch hit the market on Sunday, giving buyers a chance to live in a historic home designed by Jackie Kennedy herself. The “Wexford” estate has been on and off the market since 2013, according to a post from Redfin. It was originally priced at $10 million.
The current cost is slashed in half at $5 million, but that’s still significantly higher than the average $650,000 home in Marshall, Virginia (which is about an hour drive from the District).
The home was completed in 1963, just weeks before President John F. Kennedy was assassinated, Business Insider reported. The ranch features four bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms, three fireplaces, a pool, a tennis court, a stable, and a pond on more than 167 acres of land, according to the Redfin listing. There’s also an underground Secret Service bunker, Business Insider reported, adding that President Ronald Reagan rented the estate in 1980 “and prepared for his debates against Jimmy Carter here.”
If you’d like to get closer to the former First Lady, but don’t have $5 million laying around, you can read about the film Jackie for free. It stars Natalie Portman, who shot a few scenes in D.C. earlier this year, and premiered today at the Venice Film Festival.
