Police arrested a man this morning after they allege he threatened a Metrorail operator with a knife.
The incident took place around 8:40 a.m. on a southbound Green Line train, according to a Metro release. Police say 19-year-old Norman Polk allegedly kicked and banged on a door leading to the train operator’s cab while the train was stopped. When the operator opened the door, police say Polk allegedly “displayed a three-inch folding knife and verbally threatened the operator for not moving the train fast enough.”
The operator closed the door, called for help, and police arrested Polk on the platform at Anacostia Metro station. Officials found a knife at the scene.
The police activity caused about a 15 minute delay on the Green Line, and two trains were single-tracking around the scene.
There were no injuries, and Polk is being charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
