A Fairfax County man housed more than 80 cats, which officials retrieved over the weekend.

The Animal Protection Police launched an investigation into the case after receiving a tip from an official with the Department of Code Compliance, according to a release from the Fairfax County Police Department. And on Saturday, police took 82 cats—ranging from newborns to seven year olds—from the man’s home to a local animal shelter. Police also found five dead cats inside of the home and collected their remains.

The unnamed 52-year-old man lives in the 7200 block of Westmoreland Road in Falls Church.

This is an ongoing investigation, and the man will be charged “if appropriate,” according to police.
