Two out of three DCist staffers loathe candy corn, according to an in-house survey. And it turns out that the signature Halloween treat isn’t highly favored among other Washingtonians, Influenster reports, after surveying 40,000 people across the country.
Instead, District residents prefer the crunchy, caramel-centered chocolate bar that is Twix, as shown on Influenster’s list of America’s Favorite Halloween Candy By State (and D.C.).
Despite the District’s disregard for the sugary kernel-shaped treat, candy corn is the number one choice in the most number of states thanks to folks in Oregon, Wyoming, Tennessee, Texas, and South Carolina.
Closer to home, Maryland’s sweet tooth belongs to Almond Joy. And Virginians have a thing for Reese’s Pieces, whose cousin, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, was among the top choices in every single state (though it only ranked first in Rhode Island and Connecticut).
