The D.C. Public Library and Department of Motor Vehicles are among the long list of those affected by the DDoS attack that had much of the country asking “is [Spotify, Twitter, SoundCloud, REddit, etc] down? Whyyyyy, internet gods, why?”
Now three waves of attacks crippled Dyn, a major DNS provider. The latest, from Gizmodo:
Update 4:22 PM EST: Looks like this is probably going to get even worse before it gets any better. Dyn says they are being hit with a third wave of attacks. Dyn told CNBC the attack is “well planned and executed, coming from tens of millions IP addresses at same time.”
In D.C., the attack affected the credit card system at the DMV, so they were only able to accept cash, checks, and money orders. The public library system also said its online payment system has been affected.
TGIF?
