While a crowd at American University chanted “fuck Trump,” “America is dead,” and “America doesn’t represent me,” protesters burned the American flag this afternoon.

According the student newspaper, The Eagle, the crowd is beginning to disperse amid rainfall. But clashes between Trump supporters and protesters lasted nearly two hours.

“Following the election and a season of division, it is important for the AU Community to come together,” the school tweeted. “AU is your home; you are not alone.”
Portland was also the scene of a flag burning last night, and student walkouts and protests have been reported in Berkeley, Des Moines, and Phoenix.
