“I love this restaurant,” Senator Chuck Schumer told the New Yorker in 2007, even while admitting that Hunan Dynasty “always has the faint smell of disinfectant.”
So when a Politico reporter tweeted that there was a fire at the Capitol Hill institution, Schumer responded with a digital cry.

One firefighter was taken to a clinic to be treated for “very minor” injuries; no other injuries were reported, according to D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Doug Buchanan. The fire has been extinguished.
Firefighters responding to the scene at 215 Pennsylvania Ave SE found smoke coming from under the eaves, and they eventually realized that the source of the blaze came from within the restaurant’s HVAC or duct system. It spread from the first floor to the second and a bit to the roof, Buchanan said.
He described the damages as “somewhat severe” because they had to open up parts of the building to find the source of the fire. “It appears to [have been caused by] a malfunctioning HVAC or cooling or heating system.”
