The Twisted Horn (819 Upshur St. NW) opened in January from the team behind Hank’s Oyster Bar and Hank’s Pasta Bar. Now, one the eve of its one-year anniversary, it’s getting a name to match its sister restaurants: the Petworth hangout will be known going forward as Hank’s Cocktail Bar. The bar’s website and social media accounts have already been updated to reflect the change.
Parent company JL Restaurant Group announced in a release that it plans to maintain the same food, drink, and neighborhood vibe of The Twisted Horn, just with a new name and logo. Owner Jamie Leeds said bringing the business under the Hank’s brand was a natural fit. “We would always refer to The Twisted Horn as our cocktail bar, so why not call it that?”
Sabrina Zahid, JL Restaurant Group’s marketing manager, told DCist that business has been “growing steadily,” but also noted that most people didn’t seem to know The Twisted Horn was associated with the Hank’s brand.
“That wasn’t working for us,” she says. “We hope the name change will help bring even more people to Petworth.”
Along with the name, Zahid says the bar lowered its prices and introduced some heartier items to both its brunch and dinner menus about a month ago in response to customer feedback.
The development at The Twisted Horn is just the latest change on an evolving block that in recent months has welcomed Himitsu (828 Upshur St. NW) and Ruta del Vino (800 Upshur St. NW), and Timber Pizza (809 Upshur St. NW).
