MONDAY, DECEMBER 19

GALAGA TOURNAMENT: Can you defeat the most alien insects? Port City Brewing Company’s Classic Arcade Tournament returns, this time with a Galaga showdown. Post your best of two scores before 7:30 p.m. for the chance to compete in the head-to-head championship. (Port City Brewing Company, 4-9 p.m. $5 for a spot in the tournament and a pint)

BOTTOMLESS LATKES: How many traditional, sweet potato, and zucchini latkes can you eat in two hours? The Latke-Palooza features “bottomless” latkes, plus a deep fried donut bar. (Comissary, 6-8 p.m. $22-38)

GREMLINS: You know the rules. Don’t expose them to light or water, and don’t feed them after midnight. Experience all the fun that results from broken rules during a double feature of Gremlins. (Black Cat, 7 p.m. FREE)

SONGBYRD MUSIC HOUSE: Settle in at Songbyrd Music House for one of three Monday night events. First, a Leonard Cohen Listening Party kicks off a two-week series on the best music of 2016. Listening parties coming up later this week will feature David Bowie, Kanye West, Beyonce, and more. (7 p.m., Upstairs, FREE). Once you finish listening to You Want It Darker, you can stick around for some Music Trivia (7 p.m. Upstairs, FREE) or the holiday edition of the In-School Suspension Live Storytelling Show & Podcast Recording (8 p.m. Downstairs, $8 at the door).

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 20

DRAGAPELLA: The Kinsey Sicks, “America’s Favorite Dragapella® Beautyshop Quartet,” have updated their 2011 hit Oy Vey in a Manger. While they once dreamed of a Betty White Christmas, now they now dream of a Vanna White Christmas. You can also expect a few political jabs. Tuesday’s show is almost sold out, but The Kinsey Sicks perform nightly through December 28. (DCJCC, 7:30 p.m. $19-53)

TOY DRIVE: Bring a toy to Edgar Bar & Kitchen and be rewarded with complimentary food and drink, plus the chance to win restaurant gift certificates or a stay at The Mayflower Hotel. All toys will be donated to the Children’s National Medical Center. (6-9 p.m. FREE , phone or e-mail reservations required)

RADIOGRAPHERS: The Radiographers, the band with a designated whistler (who also contributes rhythm guitar and vocals), performs at the Black Cat. (7:30 p.m. $10)

ART EXHIBITION: If you’re still looking for some unique gift ideas, consider Carlos Carmonamedina’s narrative images, which reflect his personal views as a D.C. foreigner. Prints and postcards from the “‘Postcards from Washington DC” project, in which he produced a different postcard every week, will be for sale, and his most recent paintings will be on display at GCDC through February. (5-7 p.m. FREE)

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 21

COMPASS ROSE: Choose from two Wednesday night events at Compass Rose Bar & Kitchen. First, wrap up your holiday shopping at one of the last holiday markets of the season (12-9 p.m. $5 suggested donation to Martha’s Table). Then, experience a local twist on “Celebrities Read Mean Tweets” when chefs and bartenders including Marjorie Meek-Bradley and JP Fetherston read the craziest reviews, tweets, Facebook posts, emails, etc. (10 p.m.-1 a.m. FREE)

STORIES ABOUT SOUND: If you love sharing stories about music, spin a yarn at Flutterby: Stories About Sound, an open mic storytelling event. THURSDAY, DECEMBER 22

KOREAN FILM: The Korean Cultural Center screens the 2008 hit Scandal Makers, about a former teen idol now in his 30s, who suddenly learns he may be a grandfather. (6 pm. FREE, R.S.V.P. required)

COMEDY: He performs comedy “all over the planet earth,” but D.C. is the chosen city of Rob Cantrell for his next Thursday night show. Laugh along with Cantrell, a top ten finalist on the very first season of NBC’s Last Comic Standing, when her performs at Drafthouse Comedy. (8 p.m. $20)

SUPPLY RECORDS: Supply Records, an independent, vinyl only label, focusing primarily on dance music, hosts a five year anniversary show. (DC9, 9 p.m. $12)
