A lavish movie theater chain is setting up shop in Northeast.

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema announced today that its first D.C. location will be along the Rhode Island Avenue corridor, as part of the Bryant Street development’s first phase.

The 44,000 square-foot theater will feature luxury recliner seats, Sony 4K Digital Cinema projection, and “top-of-the-line” sound. Moviegoers will also be able to order in-house prepared food and craft beer from inside each theater or at the venue’s bar.

The cinema is the ideal tenant to anchor the Bryant Street development, said Michael Skena, senior VP of MRP Realty, in a release. The development, which will include public plazas, green space, interactive art installations, and direct bike trail and metro access “is poised to be the most highly anticipated shopping, dining and entertainment district in Northeast D.C.,” he continued.

Alamo opened in Ashburn, Va. in 2013 where they show everything from current box office hits to classic films.

Thanks to the chain’s indie distribution arm Drafthouse Films, D.C.’s theater will likely host late-night screenings of cult hits like Miami Connection. It’s expected to open in 2019.
