In the age of Netflix, federal agents are investigating a Capitol Hill company that they allege was in the business of selling pirated copies of TV shows like “The West Wing,” according to NBC Washington.
The bootlegging scheme also made thousands of dollars in online sales from “The Sopranos,” “The Twilight Zone” and “The Big Bang Theory,” according to court filings obtained by NBC Washington. The copies were allegedly imported from Hong Kong in 2011 and 2012.
Agents filed search warrants this month to review bank accounts of a Capitol Hill man who they suspect was involved in the operation.
Scott MacFarlane broke the news about the investigation on Twitter this morning, clarifying that it was not a joke. People believed him.
