Before they’re completely moved out, the Obamas are reportedly hosting one last blowout bash at the White House this week.
President Obama and First lady Michelle Obama will welcome A-List guests for a goodbye party on Friday, according to The Washington Post.
Guests may include Stevie Wonder, Samuel L. Jackson, Oprah Winfrey, Usher, Gayle King, Bradley Cooper, and J.J. Abrams, according to The Post’s sources. And Beyonce and Jay Z could possibly hit the stage.
In the past, the Obamas themselves have paid the bill for these types of events.
Among other shindigs at the White House, BET threw a “Love & Happiness” concert in October with performances by Common, Janelle Monae, The Roots, De La Soul, Jill Scott, Yolanda Adams, and other black celebrities. Video emerged of the president dancing to “Hotline Bling.”
And next Tuesday, President Obama will deliver a farewell address in Chicago.
He said in a statement earlier this week that he was just beginning to write his remarks “but I’m thinking about them as a chance to say thank you for this amazing journey, to celebrate the ways you’ve changed this country for the better these past eight years, and to offer some thoughts on where we all go from here.”
