The “first book” of Shakespeare, a copy of the First Folio—considered by many to be the Western world’s most important literary text—is a rare sight. For only a few more weeks, explore First Folio! Shakespeare’s American Tour, where you will be able to see 20 First Folios at the Folger—the most on display anywhere, ever.

What makes these Folios even more remarkable is that they spent 2016 traveling to all 50 states, an adventure that showcased local communities’ embrace of a literary treasure, each celebrated and documented in its own unique way.
