This afternoon, D.C. Fire fought a blaze at the iconic Watergate Complex in Foggy Bottom.

D.C. Fire was called to the scene and extinguished the fire shortly before 2 p.m. The crew is still working to remove smoke from several floors.

The building was evacuated and there are no reported injuries. According to the agency, the fire came from a vacant apartment on the 13th floor.
The Watergate, best known as the scene of an eponymous political scandal that resulted in the resignation of President Richard Nixon, is a complex of five buildings, including office space, a luxury hotel, condominiums, and more.
