Almost four years after Rusty sent National Zoo employees on a sprawling red panda hunt throughout Adams Morgan (while Edward Snowden sent reporters on a sprawling man hunt through a Russian airport), a red panda is on the run in Norfolk.

19-month-old Sunny was last seen in her enclosure at The Virginia Zoo at 5 p.m. on Monday. When zookeepers realized she’d pulled a Rusty on Tuesday morning, they began a search of the grounds. They are hopeful that Sunny remained on the property, but we have to assume that she’s made a beeline for the Canadian border.

It’s not clear how Sunny managed to pull off her Shawpanda Redemption, but National Zoo employees believe that Rusty used rain-logged trees to make his escape. “Because of his climbing ability and agility, it is likely that Rusty was able to traverse out of the exhibit due to the bridge created by overlapping tree limbs and bamboo,” the zoo said at the time.

Update 1/26: The Virginia Zoo is still searching for Sunny. Though she has a microchip for ID purposes, it does not have GPS tracking capabilities. They’ve received plenty of reports of Sunny sightings, but they all turned out to be regular old raccoons.
