On the heels of rumors that First Lady Melania Trump may never move to Washington, ABC News reports that the first lady and 10-year-old son Barron will indeed pack their bags and head to the White House this summer.

Senior advisor Stephanie Winston Wolkoff told ABC that Mrs. Trump will settle in D.C. at the end of the school year. The Trump team announced in November that she and Trump’s youngest Barron would not move to D.C. after the inauguration so that the 10 year old could finish the year at his Upper West Side private school.

Until then, she’ll split her time between New York and the District. “Mrs. Trump is honored to serve this country and is taking the role and responsibilities of the first lady very seriously,” Wolkoff said.

The White House also announced that Lindsay Reynolds will be the first lady’s chief of staff and an assistant to President Trump. She previously served as associate director of the White House Visitors Office under the George W. Bush administration.

The first lady’s decision to remain in New York has been supported by many taxpayer dollars. CNN reported in November that it costs New York City more than $1 million a day to protect then-President-elect Trump when he was still living at home. And it predicted that the cost wouldn’t drop significantly even after he moved to the White House because his family remained at their Trump Tower residence.

Jillian Steinhauer, of Hyperallergic, noted yesterday that providing one year’s worth of security for the Trumps in New York costs more than double the entire budget for the National Endowment for the Arts—which is one of several arts groups that Trump may seek to eliminate.
