Experience some of the most precious books and manuscripts in the world, in their first U.S. appearance, at the Folger Shakespeare Library’s new exhibition, 500 Years of Treasures from Oxford.

The exhibition includes works ranging from the 10th to 17th centuries, from precious illuminated manuscripts to books on Astronomy, Mathematics, Medicine, and Philosophy, including Galileo’s first observations of the moon with a telescope, Sir Isaac Newton’s notes on Halley’s Comet, and Vesalius’ studies of the human body.

Founded 500 years ago in 1517, Corpus Christi College at the University of Oxford is a repository of extraordinary treasures, few of which have ever been seen by the public. To mark its 500th anniversary, fifty manuscripts and early printed books from its celebrated library are being brought to America for the first time, and the Folger Shakespeare Library is their first stop!

On view now through April 30 at the historic Folger Shakespeare Library! Check out the exhibition website to learn more.
