This weekend’s agenda includes a battle of the sexes, the best of the worst VHS recordings, and more.

FRIDAY, MARCH 3

BATTLE OF THE SEXES: Laugh Index Theatre’s FEMIN-EDY & DUDE-EDY sets out to answer the worn-out question “are men funnier than women?” Guests can expect an all-female segment and an all-male segment, followed by a Battle of the Sexes Improv Jam after the show. (DC Arts Center, 7:30 p.m. $10)

VHS FOOTAGE: Joe Pickett and Nick Prueher have scoured garage sales, thrift stores, and dumpsters across the country in search of the best VHS recordings. This Friday and Saturday, they’ll share the best of their finds with you during the Found Footage Festival. The “curiously-produced industrial training videos and the forsaken home movies donated to Goodwill” will be accompanied by live commentary and where-are-they-now updates from Joe and Nick. (Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse, 7:30 p.m. $15)

SIDESHOW: Baltimore’s The Aunt Sally Sideshow visits D.C. with special guests, the Misbehavin’ Maidens, a mixed acapella/folk band. Expect to hear songs about anime, fandom con hookups, sex education, pirates, and more. (Black Cat, 9 p.m. $12-15)

GENDER SWAP: If you enjoy watching men perform Taylor Swift and Beyonce songs, Monumental Theatre Company’s Sex Swap 3: A Gender Bender Cabaret is for you. Guys will sing girls’ songs while girls will sing guys’ songs. (Cobalt: A, 8-11 p.m. $20-25)

SATURDAY, MARCH 4

OPERA: In Champion, composer Terence Blanchard uses a score filled with jazz-inflected vocals, bluesy harmonies, and Afro-Caribbean beats to tell the true story of Emile Griffith, the closeted gay boxer whose knockout of a homophobic rival led to unexpected tragedy. (The Kennedy Center, 7 p.m. $45+)

MUSIC FESTIVAL: Sounds of the City, D.C. Music Download’s four-day festival created to support D.C.’s thriving music scene, kicks off on Friday with a showcase at Tropicalia. Saturday’s schedule of events includes a Record Label Expo at Sonybyrd Music House, (12-4 p.m. FREE) and an Anniversary Show at the Black Cat, featuring Den-Mate, Nag Champa, Fellow Creatures, and Stronger Sex. (8 p.m., $12)

CULINARY OPEN HOUSE: If you like meeting the faces behind your favorite made-in-D.C. snacks, stop by Union Kitchen’s Ivy City location during their Meet the Makers Open House. More than 70 local businesses will be offering food for sale, and Republic Restoratives, New Columbia Distillers, Pekko Beer, and Anxo Cidery will be on hand to sell you drinks. (5-7 p.m. $10)

BREWER’S BALL: Help find a cure for cystic fibrosis by indulging in unlimited samplings of handcrafted beers and tastes of the best local cuisine. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Brewer’s Ball features 40 of the region’s best craft breweries plus 30 area restaurants. The event will also feature live entertainment and silent and live auctions. (National Building Museum, 7 p.m.-12 a.m. $150)

SUNDAY, MARCH 5

ARTS FESTIVAL: The last day of the Atlas Intersections Festival features flamenco, ensemble theater, curlers, and more. (various times and prices)

THEATRE: The Klunch theater collective presents a benefit performance of The Book of Liz. The play by David and Amy Sedaris tells the story of Sister Elizabeth Donderstock, inventor of the world famous cheese ball recipe, and Brother Brightbee, who unseats Liz as the queen of cheese. (DC Arts Center, 2:30 p.m. $20-35)
